Saturday, November 05, 2005 -- (7:00 A.M.)  Once again, we must ask the owners and management of KGW-TV, the Portlland, Oregon NBC broadcast affiliate, why they hire news desk anchors and reporters who misinform their audience?

Young Mr. Becker described fiery South American protests to the visit of President Bush to Argentina.  It's a trade meeting.  But for Becker's  propagandistic stupidity in includng network feed footage (unless KGW has a reporter down there) which clearly showed a large banner of Che Guevera, we wouldn't have known why the protests were happening.  Not once did Mr. Becker mention that these South American "demonstrators" are  following orders from the local communist party leaders who are, themselves, following the lead of the new socialist power in South America.  Oil rich  Venezuela (an important petroleum source for the U.S.) is now sliding rapidly into the communist camp. The total oppression of that ideology will soon descend on that nation.  Political correctness will come to have the muscle of the courts, people will be tried and convicted for speech crimes without being allowed a proper defense -- or even a defense, at all. 

In time (if it hasn't happened already) all media in Venezuela will report the communist party line, or be closed down.  Those who dissent will be sent to gulags for real torture (not the fraternity hazing of Abu Graib), slave labor and death by starvation, exposure or casual execution. 

Some of our readers will recall a beach party near Havana, Cuba, not long ago.  The lives of some journalists came to an end there as per the instruction of the dictator, Castro. For the young, the misinformed and the wilfully ignorant (most American academics), Che Guevera -- the bearded fellow in the beret on the banner in the background this morning on KGW -- was a communist revolutionary who, like all South American communists since, was a disciple of Fidel Castro.  Luckily for the world, he is presently very dead.

A New French Revolution?.

Also this morning the riots in France were one of Mr. Becker's lead stories.  I see 7:33 AM on the screen.  As I write this, Becker is describing the French riots a second time.  He has not said a single thing that would tell his viewers who the rioters are.  They are Moslems from North Africa, living in suburban ghettos in or near Paris.  One of the reasons France did not join America in getting rid of Saddam Hussein was the U.N. Oil for Food graft that was fattening French pockets.  The other reason was these new communities and what could happen there should France stand up against Islamic terrorism.  You remember Spain, I assume.  (Actually, it is happening, even though France has deserted Western civilization and its traditional friends to avoid such trouble. )

Had you watched John Becker this morning, you wouldn't have learned any of what you have just read.  A little satire is needed here.  We'll parrott modern Democrats in our manner of speech.  John Becker fairly reeks of the appearance of journalistic impropriety.  He should apologize to the people of Oregon and resign his staff position, then go to some other state, say four Hail Hillarys and sin no more..  And, the people who hired him should also publicly apologize to the people of Oregon.  The FCC should tell them that if they continue to hire people who wilfully or ignorantly mislead the public, the station's license to broadcast will be taken from them, and handed to somebody who can tell the difference between news and leftwing propaganda.

Not that KGW stands out in Portland.  All of the local television news departments are, like most of the national news organizations with whom they are associated, outlets for liberal drivel. Like public broadcasting, they are very good at leaving out of their reporting that which you, the public, need to know to discover the truth about why things are happening. Is KGW's John Becker simply stupid, or is he intentionally omitting important facts so as to mislead his audience?  Out of charity and lacking proof as to motive, we choose stupid.
