| Pete Ferryman Just Took the Boat
to Journalism Hell Monday, September 19, 2005 -- I don't watch award programs like the Emmy show because they are reflections of what is wrong with so much of our modern American culture. That is, they are junk. According to Pete Ferryman on this morning's Channel 12, Portland, Oregon news show, Dan Rather was celebrated last night for his contribution to broadcast journalism. Martha Stewart went to jail for using an insider stock tip. Dan Rather gets Emmy praise for using falsified military documents in an attempt to subvert an American presidential election. And Mr. Ferryman is under the impression that in taking celebratory note of the occasion he, himself, is exhibiting the charactistics of a good journalist? What are you going to do to earn your Lifetime Recognition Award from your club, Pete? Sneak a terrorist with a dirty suitcase nuke into America so he can blow up a school for crippled Jewish children? The stupidity of mainstream American "journalists" is shocking. Look at what the profession has become. From Katy Couric to the editorial staff at the Oregonian, it is a joke. And, each year it gets worse. If not for the rise of conservative-produced publications and programs, journalism in America would be dead. You, the reader or the viewer, would have no idea what was actually going on around you. What a shame September's Oregon Magazine Baghdad Bob journalism award has already been handed out. Mr. Ferryman has just qualified for one. (LL) © 2005 Oregon Magazine |
