[From an introductory note by Michael O'Brien]  We haven't been able to book Janet Jackson yet for this, but working on it. 16 full-color glossy pages from me this week on the two teams and their seasons. First time ever a public school has had both number-ones at the end of the regular season. God I love small towns.  (Here's proof of that last statement. )

City rally to honor teams

February 24, 2004 TILLAMOOK - "Mook mania" is starting to spread through town.  As the top-ranked Tillamook High School boys and girls basketball squads get ready for crucial playoff elimination games Saturday, March 6, city and county officials are preparing proclamations honoring the teams and a community pep rally is being planned for 1 p.m. on game day on Laurel Avenue between the County Courthouse and City Hall.

According to Tillamook High School Principal Bruce Rhodes, both teams will be on hand for the event along with the school's pep band and cheerleaders.  Van Moe, owner of KTIL-FM, said the station will broadcast the rally live.  Tillamook Downtown Association Manager Sally Clay said her organization will provide downtown merchants with "Go Mooks!" posters for display in store windows and TDA members are being asked to wear the Cheesemakers' colors, red and black, the week before the big games.

Tillamook High School officials said exact times for the games have not yet been set, but it is expected that the first game will be played late in the afternoon, and the second game will start early in the evening.  At press time, it was not yet known what teams the THS boys and girls will be facing.
