America's MainstreamMedia:  A Perfect Guide to Doing Things Right

August, 2006 -- Why, you might ask, don’t we bomb Iran?  It is causing all sorts of rouble, at present including a war by Hezbolla  financed by money fed through Syria.  In the same manner and sometimes combination, it has caused trouble in Iraq ever since we threw Hussein out.  Its leaders are in some cases the same people who bombed embassies and other things, killing Americans all the way back to the last third of the last century. (One school of thought has it that Iran cost Jimmy Carter a second term, thus handing the White House to Ronald Reagan.)  Iran's leaders have sworn they will destroy Israel.  They are, as you read this, building toward a nuclear future which they swear has no interest in The Bomb.

(As an aside, you never hear Iran threatening nearby Turkey, a predominently Islamic nation which has long managed to tolerate the West. It is well known that the Turks consider Kurdistan [northern Iraq] to be a natural part of their nation just as the Chinese think Taiwan [Formosa] is a natural part of theirs.  One would think the Turks might put forth some effort to influence the local political tides, but can you remember the last time that ancient nation was mentioned in a news release about the region?)

Anyway, back to our big media and bombing Iran.  Did Clinton not bomb Kosovo with the enthusiastic approval of the American mainstream media?  Had Kosovo ever been anything but nice to American soldiers -- saving as they did hundreds of American flyers during WWII?  And, hasn't Iran, as pointed out above, at times been unfriendly to our soldiers, not to mention our presidents? Certainly, the eminently fair American mainstream media which represents the heart and soul of American liberalism, would not object if Bush did the same thing Clinton did.  It would be hypocritical of them to do so.

We have written before about the matter of all major Democrats from Clinton to Kerry pointing out that Iraq was actively working on weapons of mass destruction.  According to the mainstream media, that became a false statement the instant Bush said the same thing.  So, what would this same big American media say if Bush, echoing the Clinton approach, sent in the bombers to shake the foundations of the Islamo-fascists presently holding the whip in Iran, and through their mullahs, large population numbers and oil revenues the stirring stick for the Middle East pot?  (I have heard pundits suggest that a substantial portion of Iran's population has positive feelings about the idea of stepping out of the 10th Century, society-wise. There are many who predict a revolution conservatives like myself would like if something happened to rattle the despots in control.)

Whose side is the big American media on?

Perhaps the past is prologue, here. Let us take a look at how things have been going, American  press-wise, of late.  For example, these media giants have painted the current war as a victory for Hezbollah. (The terrorists, who do not wear military uniforms, do not report their casualties as soldiers, so Israel, so far, has killed only civilians.).  When Israel actually does kill some civilians while trying to take out a rocket launch site intentionally  located by the terrorists in an Arab day care center, it is to our mainstream press a feat demanding a Nuremburg Trial.  No mention is made of the fact that Hezbollah could have moved a couple of miles and lauched the missles from an empty field.  Further, no mention is made that Hezbollah celebrates when one of their weapons kills Israeli civilians.

All this, after Israel kept all her treaty agreements and turned over all those tracts of land won in previous wars.  All this after the people who received these lands broke all of their agreements in the same treaties by failing to disarm, then began to (a) launch munitions into Israeli towns and (b) kidnap Israeli soldiers while camoflaging themselves in the costumes of United Nations peacekeeping forces.  (You’ve seen the blue helmets, at least, so you know what I’m talking about.)

Our fearless large media didn’t mention that last part except as a page thirteen "unconformed Israeli charge."

The case for Israel here is airtight.  Israelis have called the area home since the Bronze Age.  Maybe three or four thousand years before the faith called Islam existed, depending on the establishment dates of the city states like Ben Jamin.  (Perhaps as much as two thousand years before Christianity existed.) The current nation of Israel was created by the United Nations liberals love so much.  And, what did they do when they moved back home?  They made the desert bloom.  They are builders who generate jobs.  Though at times attacked by groups of nations, Israel has won every war dropped in their lap.  Their treaty word is good and their tolerance of violence generated in their midst absolutely amazing -- in particular since much of that violence is done by people who became "Palestinians" only after the King of Jordan evicted them as troublemakers from his country.

Quantum principles of liberal journalism

.Just today, the last day of July, 2006, an Israeli news service released a report which indicated that Israel was cleaning the Arab clock in this war.  I know of no major American media outlet which reported that statement.  Every one I watched , listened to or read said that Israel is achieving little while suffering worldwide condemnation for its careless destruction of civilians.  Nowhere did I see, read or hear a MSM reference to an impending Israeli victory.

The evidence of anti-Israeli bias within our American major media outlets is in question only by those who work at and run those outlets.  I don't know if that bias is intentional or just pure professional incompetence and ignorance.  Nor, of late, do I much care which it is.  What I do know is that this incompetence is as dependable as the paths of the stars across the skies and seasons of the world.  It provides a path of nearly perfect prediction.

Here's how that works.

The big American media said Al Gore was going to cream Bush.  It didn’t happen that way.  Gore failed to win his own state.  Nobody in American history has won the White House after losing his home state. The big American media said John Kerry was going to beat Bush.  It didn’t happen that way.  The big American media said the Republicans would lose congressional seats in the first mid-term election.  Exactly the reverse is what heppened.  The big American media said that Bush policies would send the economy into the tank and triple the national debt.  Bush policies gave America the lowest unemployment rate and the best growth in decades – the net result of which was a major increase in revenue to the U.S. Treasury (people who were on welfare got good jobs and went from a net expense to a net gain taxwise).  The big American media predictions about the national debt had to be dumped.  As usual, the original predictions were front page headlines while the actual events were third section, small-type notes.

It’s like the prediction I saw on television the other day.  Some environmental outfit bought some time and ran a spot that said we’re twenty years from environmental armageddon.  Look up the first printing date of a book called Silent Spring by Rachael Carson, some time.  When I was a young man, in the Sixties, we were twenty years from the final death of the final poisoned life form on Earth.  And, oil was going to run out before that.

If you know anything which is living, you can judge for yourself if the Earth turned into a lifeless ball in 1986.  As for known reserves of oil,  there is one deposit in a Canadian shale field which alone contains more oil than the world of the Sixties could burn up in half a century of gas guzzling V-8 road trips.  The known reserves of oil in the world are larger than ever before.

They are amazingly consistent.

The thing I want to point out, here, is that the big American media hasn’t been right about anything since V-J (Victory over Japan in WWII) Day.

Using their track record as a guide, and ignoring the possibility that even a complete drooling idiot occasionally makes a mistake and does something correctly, we may look upon this as the mathematics of Quantum Liberal Journalism.   What one particle (specific media outlet) may do is impossible to judge because the act of observing one up close changes the outcome of their journalism, but taken in sufficient numbers the behavior of the big American media always results in misinformation.

That said, this theory allows the following predictions.

Israel is kicking Hezbollah’s butt, which is why the cry is going out for an immediate and unconditional cease fire.  The reason why gasoline is so expensive has nothing to do with oil company profits, and raising taxes on the oil companies will produce the exact opposite of what the Democrats claim.  The coming mid-term elections will not result in a retaking of even one house of Congress by the Democrats.  In fact, the Republicans may pick up some seats in one or both houses.  The people of the United States do not wish to abolish Wal Mart.  Illegal aliens are not just taking jobs which Americans refuse to do.  Clarence Thomas is a good judge.

And, the right thing to do with Iran is to bomb its known nuclear development sites, all its military bases, all of its air, land and port transportation facilities and all the residences and offices of its Islamo-fascist leaders  into driveway gravel chunks of rubble.

We know this would be the right thing to do because the big American media will immediately call it a disastrous mistake.
