Oregon
Becomes Regional
Sports Surface HQ
All is not doom & gloom locally on the
economic opportunity front. FieldTurf, athletic field surface
manufacturer, has opened an office in Wilsonville to serve West Coast
clientele. This will be the second regional sales and service office to
serve the American market. The
Oregon base employs a staff of 10, headed by company veteran Billy
Walker.
Both Oregon and Oregon State have installed all-weather FieldTurf in
both football and baseball facilities. It is a popular choice for
high school sports use, with over 80 installations to date around
Oregon. FieldTurf offers a broad range of surfacing for
basketball, volleyball, squash, tennis, racquetball and gymnastic
indoor surfaces and track and field facilities. Both synthetics
and hardwoods are utilized.
The company also has installed 21 of the 32 NFL football franchisees'
turf installations, and has provided suface for 50 Divsion I college
football stadiums. The Tampa Bay, Minnesota and Toronto
major league baseball clubs are FieldTurf users.
FieldTurf, a division of Tarkett Group, is the largest entity in the
sports surfacing industry and offers leasing, engineering and
manufacturing to specifications.
